Dear Friends of Camping Baciccia, the hot sun of these days invites us to stay on our beautiful beaches of Ceriale in the Ligurian Riviera, but what about doing an amazing dive to discover what Ligurian Sea hides in his depths ?
Do you have a diving license or are you getting it? The Isle of Bergeggi, not far from Ceriale, offers a beautiful opportunity to dive in the Riviera di Ponente.
The splendid Marine Protected Area of the Bergeggi Island is a concentrate of biodiversity and history made of limestone rocks covered by scrubland, caves, inlets, coral bottoms and prairies of Posidonia Oceanica.
There are three distinct dives to do: the Franata, the Pifferaio and the Canalone.
The Franata is located on the south-east side of the island that turns to the open sea and consists of a group of rocks that slopes down to a maximum depth of -30 meters.
This is a medium-easy dive, which requires the Open Water patent.
During this dive, at its maximum depth, it is possible to see sponges and small burrows where octopuses, moray eels and clams find shelter. Going back up, you can see a prairie of seaweed inhabited by numerous species of thrushes with iridescent liveries and seahorses.
The Pifferaio is a very pleasant, easy excursion, suitable for educational purposes and the most frequented when the conditions at sea are not optimal.
The rock fall, which reaches up to -18 meters deep, has a small cave where there are many species of fish. Sometimes it can reserve extraordinary meetings.
The Canalone is located in the northeastern part of the island of Bergeggi and consists of a vertical wall that starts from -8 meters, to get to the deepest part, the real canal, which goes from -20 meters up to about -30 meters deep.
The view here is incredibly spectacular, because you can meet gronchi, moray eels, lobsters, nudibranchs, sponges, castagnole, groupers and, in summer, also dentexes to which are added large monkfish in winter and spring.
This is a medium-easy dive and the required patent is the Advanced Open Water.
For those who don’t have a patent and don’t like the thrill of the depth, but swim well, it is highly recommended an excursion to the Marine Protected Area of the Bergeggi Island for snorkeling.
These are beautiful and very rewarding experiences.
